Inspire Me!

Inspiration from http://www.style.com

Butterick 5190 using ITY knit from Fabric Mart. Taking time to design before cutting the fabric made all of the difference in the look of this dress. The dress was designed using the top and adding the additional length.  It is one of my favorites.

Pattern Description: Misses' Jacket, Top, Dress, Skirt and Pants: Loose-fitting, unlined jacket A has dropped shoulders and stitched hems. Semi-fitted, pullover top B or below mid-knee length dress C are sleeveless with stitched hems. B: purchased belt. Skirt D and straight leg pants E have concealed elastic waistline and stitched hems.

Pattern Sizing: 16-24

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No, due to alterations.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that it is versitile.

Fabric Used: Polyester/Lycra Flora Medallions, Black, White 60" wide from Fabric Mart.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added 4" to length, and sleeves.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will sew it again, and Yes I do recommend it to others. I made another out of ITY Knit Marble Print blue, aqua, and lime.

Conclusion: This dress was inspired from a dress off the runway of Style.com. It took a while to put together with adding the borders to the sleeve, hem, and neckline. It has a black X in the back which mirrors the front. I wore it today, which was our first wendy and chilly day. It was a very comfortable dress.
